Neuropathy/Peripheral Neuropathy is a condition that relates to damage of the peripheral nervous system (PNS), the vast communication network that sends signals between the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and all other parts of the body.
Peripheral nerves send many types of sensory information (Sensory nerves) to the central nervous system (CNS), such as a message that the feet are cold. They also carry signals from the CNS to the rest of the body. Best known are the signals to the muscles (Motor nerves) that tell them to contract, which is how we move, but there are different types of signals that help control everything from our heart and blood vessels, digestion, urination, sexual function, to our bones and immune system (Autonomic nerves). The peripheral nerves are like the cables that connect the different parts of a computer or connect the Internet. When they malfunction, complex functions can grind to a halt.

An Answer to Neuropathy
20 million Americans suffer from neuropathy every year. Neuropathy can be caused by many different factors including Diabetes, Spinal Degeneration or Disc Herniations, autoimmune conditions, infections, metabolic disorders, Vasculitis, Vitamin Deficiencies, Chemotherapy, etc. There are over 100 known causes of Neuropathy.
Since there are so many different causes of Neuropathy the symptoms can also vary quite a bit from person to person. These symptoms include numbness or tingling in the hands and/or feet, stabbing, burning or freezing pain, balance issues, dizziness, muscle spasms, mobility issues, muscle atrophy and even autonomic nerve dysfunction (the nerves that control your organs, glands and vessels).
Neuropathy can have devastating effects on people’s quality of life. Unfortunately, the medical system just doesn’t have a good answer to help heal this condition. Neuropathy is often treated with antidepressants as well as potent and potentially dangerous pain medications. They may also recommend the use of things like topical creams for pain reduction and even resort to things like injections and even surgeries like amputation of the toes and feet. The problem with most of these interventions is that they just mask the problem and can cause other unwelcome side effects.
How Our Neuropathy Care Plan Works
1. Get To The Root Cause of The Problem
Pain is not the problem, it is merely alerting us to the problem. We follow your pain to the root of the problem, so we can uncover your body’s seen and unseen dysfunction. Addressing that underlying dysfunction will lead to long-term, sustained health and well-being.
2. Create The Best Plan of Action
A one-size-fits-all solution won’t work – even for two patients with the same issue. We create a plan of action that is based on your unique situation and health goals, ensuring the solution suits you and not the other way around.
3. Get Back To Living Your Best Life
Our body is capable of incredible things. You deserve a life of abundant joy. Illness or injury interferes with that life, making simple tasks more difficult and draining your energy. A body in full health is able to flourish, unleashing your full potential onto the world.
Getting to the Root Cause of Neuropathy
What we do at Paramount Chiropractic is get to the root cause of your neuropathy problem and address it from a natural, holistic perspective and get people back to living the life they have always wanted and dreamed
The first thing we must do to determine if we can help with you Neuropathy condition is a comprehensive consultation and exam. This will consist of the doctor reviewing all of your medical history and your current symptoms and complaints to get to the root cause of the problem. If he determines that you are a candidate for our program he will then proceed with a spinal, functional and neurological exam including an in-depth sensory nerve examination. After the Day 1 consultation and examination the doctor will gather all the information and go over it on the Day 2 follow up Report of Findings visit. If it is determined that we can help and you are a candidate for our program your neuropathy treatment will commence that day.
Our 3-Pronged Approach to Healing Your Neuropathy
It is vitally important that we get to the root cause of your Neuropathy and how we do that is with our 3-pronged approach to healing the body from the inside out. These three vital methods are decreasing systemic inflammation in the body, stimulating and rebuilding the nerves that have been damaged and improving/healing the vasculature or blood flow to the vessels that have been damaged. Below we will describe in more depth what is entailed with each facet of our three-pronged approach.
Infrared Light Therapy
Our Infrared light therapy is a huge component to healing your neuropathy. The infrared light is a certain wavelength of light that penetrates deep into the tissues of your body. This reduces inflammation and increases the tissue healing rate. This stimulates the production of Nitric Oxide, a vasodilator, into the bloodstream helping to get the proper nutrients to where they need to be in the damaged tissue. The pain free infrared light device straps on to the feet and/or hands. And the best part is that this therapy can be done in the comfort of your own home. The device we use is backed by clinically proven research and protocols that has helped thousands of people across the country.
ReBuilder Nerve Stimulation
The ReBuilder® is a highly specialized FDA cleared TENS/EMS unit used in clinics around the world. It is a neuroelectric therapy device, unlike the common TENS unit. The ReBuilder® rebuilds the nerves by using a patented waveform which automatically adjusts to each patient’s specific needs. It calms the nerves and increases blood flow to affected areas, allowing the nerve cells to heal. If a person suffers from unexplained chronic pain or nerve pain symptoms, then the ReBuilder® is proven to be a safe and effective treatment option to alleviate these conditions.
Beginning with the first healing signal, ReBuilder® uses a patented waveform that automatically adjusts itself to the individual patient’s needs. A common TENS unit uses a square waveform that delivers the same square waveform to everyone. The ReBuilder®, however, delivers a unique wave of current that forms itself to the exact pattern needed to balance out the deficit to the damaged nerves. It gently delivers its “compensatory” wave that frees the nerve from the inflammation by letting blood and vital minerals reach it, helping it heal. The ReBuilder® brings relief and, over time, the ReBuilder® can heal nerves completely. A TENS unit’s square waveform does deliver relief, but this square waveform can permanently damage nerves. The square waveform of a common TENS unit is like beating something into submission because it harshly hammers the nerves. ReBuilder® gently and carefully treats nerves.
The built-in microprocessor in each ReBuilder® device automatically measures several physiological functions of the nerves. This microprocessor automatically adjusts itself to the patients’ specific therapeutic needs, beginning with its first healing signal. When treating the lower extremities, this signal travels automatically from one foot, up one leg, across the nerve roots in the lower back, and down the other leg to the other foot. The ReBuilder® signal instantly produces a gentle buzzing feeling. These tingling impulses then reverse direction and go from one foot all the way back to the other. Additionally, these impulses treat all of the nerves from the lumbar area down to the feet.
Chiropractic Care for Neuropathy
The spine is the conduit for the communication highway called your Central Nervous System that controls every cell, tissue and organ of your body. When your spine isn’t functioning or moving properly (spinal subluxations) it can directly affect your nerves and nervous system. So whether those nerves control your stomach, reproductive organs, hormonal glands or the nerves going down your arms and legs, Chiropractic care directly affects your spine, nervous system and how those nerves control those end organs and tissues. In this case when talking about neuropathy, chiropractic care aids in the correction of spinal subluxations that develop from trauma, repetitive stressors and de-conditioned spines among other things. A subluxation blocks that communication pathway that relays the messaging to and from your brain. In our multi-faceted approach to healing your neuropathy, chiropractic care is a crucial component to remove the subluxations from your spine as well as your extremities such as the foot, ankle, hand and wrist (as these extremity joints may not have proper motion as well). The Chiropractic care is done in the office and can be combined with our other rehab modalities like spinal strengthening exercises, vibration therapy and Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT).
Nutrition and Supplementation for Neuropathy
One of the hardest things for most people in today’s world is eating right and knowing what to eat, as well as taking the proper supplements (there’s a lot of bad supplements out there). The standard American diet (SAD) is riddled with high inflammatory, high caloric, low nutritional value foods that can push us into autoimmunity, diabetes and other chronic degenerative conditions. Chronic inflammation is toxic for your nerves! Our Program is specifically designed to guide you on what to eat and what not to eat, as well as give you a daily regimen of supplementation to reduce inflammation and heal your body from the inside out.
The diet that has seen the best results in healing neuropathy and decreasing chronic inflammation in the body is the Paleo-diet (meaning eating like our ancestors from hunter-gatherer societies). The best part is that you have a daily guide that helps you track your food and supplements each day. Supplementing with nitric oxide helps to increase vasodilation to increase blood flow and deliver nutrients to heal your damaged nerves. The greens supplement can help balance pH levels in the blood. Low (acidic) pH is harmful to your nerves and promotes inflammation. Having a balanced pH is another crucial component in healing your neuropathy.
This program leaves no stone unturned to get your body back functioning the way it was intended and to give you back the freedom and life that you deserve.

3 Common Questions on Neuropathy
I’ve been told by other doctors you can’t heal neuropathy. Is that true?
Although this could be the case for the most severe nerve damaged individuals, our program has seen a 96% success rate with patients improving their neuropathy. Unfortunately on the medical side the only answer they have is drugs, injections and possible surgeries (like amputations….yikes). So I can see why they may respond with a statement such as this. Using treatment regimens such as these will never work because the body was never lacking a drug, injection or extra body parts. The body can and will heal when the proper approach to healing the body from the inside out is taken. Your body is amazing and can always heal to some degree. So the sooner the treatment the better the outcomes!!!
How long does it take to heal neuropathy?
As stated above, the sooner the treatment the better the outcomes and shorter healing times. And since neuropathy is a progressive condition, the longer it has been there the harder and longer it will take. With mild nerve damage it could be 6-12 months and severe nerve damage up to two years to see significant change.
What is the main cause of neuropathy?
There are over 100 different causes of neuropathy. Some of the more common causes would be diabetes, spinal stenosis or degenerative disc disease, trauma (to the spine or extremities), chemotherapy induced, radiation therapy, infection, autoimmune disease, etc…
Bonus Question: How do you stop neuropathy from progressing or even cure it???
BY DOING OUR BLUEPRINT TO HEALING NEUROPATHY PROGRAM!!! DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER! THERE IS NO REASON TO KEEP SUFFERING, WE HAVE THE ANSWER!!!
